Chasing Fall Colors: A Photographer’s Journey Through Tumwater Canyon
The Trip I always make it a point to visit Tumwater Canyon in the fall to capture its incredible color palette — a patchwork of
I started my photography journey over 20 years ago with my first Sony digital camera. Over the years I’ve become a solid Nikon user—and I’m very happy I did. My first subjects were stationary, since I wasn’t up for big challenges. I quickly learned that I had a lot to learn about photography and … my camera! Through subjects like flowers and landscapes, I learned the exposure triangle and the value of mastering my camera.
Along the way, I’ve explored several different styles of photography such as portraits, wildlife, landscapes, motorsports (NASCAR, NHRA), and even macro photography. But I soon realized my photos could tell a story, and that’s when I discovered composition. I soon found that to be my signature difference when it comes to my style of photography and others.

He said, ‘Those are great pictures, you must have an expensive camera.’ After dinner I thought I’d return the compliment. I told him, ‘Dinner was delicious, you must have one of those expensive ovens!’”
